Turned out to be a hot and sunny day with road temps pushing 90. Made it to the trail crossing in 59:28 for 28.3 km; not a bad start. Ended up at 2:04:11 for 57.9 km. Great bike, but the cables keep stretching and need adjustment almost every hour.
